The Certificate of Goods Origin is a document unambiguously indicating the country of the origin of goods and issued by the agency of exporter state empowered in accordance with the domestic law. The Certificate is generally necessary for the customs authorities of import country for the purposes of regulation of imported goods, obtaining preferential tariffs on the imported goods, duty-free import and exemption from supplementary taxation.

Pursuant to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the Chambers of Commerce and Industry” adopted in July 2003, from October 23, 2009 the territorial Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan have an authority to execute, certify and issue the Certificate of Goods Origin.

The Certificate of Goods Origin enables one to use preferential customs tariffs or to be exempt of them at all. The provision of such preferences affects the price of imported goods and, therefore, their competitiveness. Moreover, the Certificate of Goods Origin can be requested in cases of opening a letter of credit by bank, subsequent sale of goods, and etc.
