The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce.
The Chambers of Commerce and Industry traditionally appear as the integration of enterprises and associations which are dealing with trade, production and services. Predecessors of the chambers of commerce were guilds of medieval tradesmen and handicraftsmen. The common purpose of the chambers in the whole world is the protection of business interests and assistance to its development.
The Chamber of Commerce of Kazakhstan was created in 1959 by Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR.
The CCI of RK has been adhering to the basic principle of all Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the world: self-sufficiency and self-financing.
With adoption of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the Chambers of Commerce and Industry” dated 3 May 2005, the CCI has obtained the independent legal form of non-profit and non-state organization. Such status makes it possible for the CCI to represent the interests of business community and deliver a package of services necessary for the business.
The Chamber has been fulfilling the functions of social and economic partner of small-size and medium-size businesses in the dialog with the government bodies and big business, and a partner in the foreign economic activity. The Chamber has signed more than 70 agreements on the cooperation with foreign countries. Business Councils with Italy, United Arab Emirates, Russia, India, Turkey, Jordan, Syria, RSA and Egypt have been established and are actively working. The Representative Office of CCI opened in China renders positive help to the Kazakhstan businessmen: from the choice of partner to the supply of machinery and equipment to Kazakhstan, necessarily with warranty and service maintenance.
Every year the Chamber of Kazakhstan having16 regional chambers with more than 450 employees renders up to 70 thousand services. They include a wide range of expert and inspection services, advice on foreign economic activity, services on the estimation of customs goods cost, verification of different documents on foreign trade operations and consideration of disputes which arise between partners – in fact, the entire spectrum of services for business.
Holding business forums in Kazakhstan and abroad and visiting of the foreign market by form of trade missions is a time-tested and economically profitable way of business development. Professionally planned and managed business meetings organized by skilled specialists gives the opportunity within the one visit to achieve greater results than several visits organized independently. Practically, a majority of business contacts organized and prepared by the Chamber of Kazakhstan were effective.
Membership in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan is voluntary. For the decades of painstaking work the Chamber has gained vast experience.
In 2009 the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan has turned 50.
